I'm Stephanie—wannabe farmer, former globe-trotter, and your go-to for all things tax, accounting, business, and yes, even a bit of AI. Before I decided to come back to the prairies of North Dakota to geek out on numbers and run a small business (now 4 of them), I was roaming the Middle East and Mediterranean, soaking up history and teaching archaeology while pursuing a PhD and grad school. 

Here's the scoop: I'm an educator at heart. I believe in being straightforward, engaging, and downright honest. That's why after 12 years of running a tax and accounting firm, I kicked off Prairie Fire Strategy. And I honestly should've done it sooner.

It became really clear this past tax season, that my clients needed more. More time, more advice, more coaching, more help, more help navigating AI, and more privacy. And so I turned back to my former life as a teacher and educator. 

So after 12 years of working 1:1 and having a small impact, I'm ready to help more people faster.  I'M SORRY it's taken me 12 years to start Prairie Fire Strategy.

I am passionate about providing easily understood consulting and advice to small business owners. Big firms often talk down to, and often don't talk at all, to up-and-coming small business owners. In some rural areas, there simply aren't professional services anymore. That shouldn't be the case when, according to Forbes, 99.9% of businesses in America are small businesses.

I have a variety of ways to get into my world. I run a coaching and education group for small business owners to ask questions and get expert answers. This group trends toward beginning owners or people with their first $100k of revenue who need to brush up their business foundations. Inside this group I often run seasonal education courses and host a Tax Season Accelerator in Q4.

For those who want privacy and don't want to meet their local neighbors in an online group, I run a podcast where I talk to experts and successful rural business owners about their work. I also run a newsletter where I share answers from the group and FB page along with rural business trends I'm seeing. I also offer a few courses so you can learn on your own. 

I offer 1:1 coaching to business owners that are ready for that level of commitment and action and who have high revenues and teams in place. These owners often need more specific coaching around a pivot or leadership change.

I'm out to build an inclusive community of collaboration and knowledge for rural, small business owners who feel isolated by lack of services or geographic distance or overwhelmed online by the sheer volume of bullshit. I want to create a space for growth minded rural business owners to get factual advice and coaching, meet and network with like minded people, and learn to support each other instead of tear down each other. 

Too often in small towns, people exist in a kind of jealous competition with their fellow business owners. They see each other as competition instead of a collaborator. It's time we change that.
